Hello Everyone!!

I am Shubhada, a student of final year Computer Engineering.

Today, I am going to share a roadmap and resources which can be used to crack the tests and interviews of service-based companies. So, service-based companies are those who provide services to people forex: TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, etc...

I have followed this roadmap and resources and it has helped me in clearing tests and interviews of these companies.

So, the first step in any placement drive is clearing the test. The test generally includes MCQ based on sections such as Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English, and Programming. Some companies include coding questions as well while some don't.

HOW TO PREPARE QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE, LOGICAL REASONING, AND ENGLISH:

If you wish to see the videos based on quantitative aptitude then you can refer to the playlists on the Youtube channel named Education4u. I have shared the video links below for specific topics.

Quantitative Aptitude includes questions based on Time and Work, Time and Distance, Profit and loss, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Ratio and Proportion, Boats and streams, Age, etc.

You can understand these concepts from a book named “ Quantitative Aptitude” written by R.S.Agrawal.

Logical Reasoning includes topics such as seating arrangement, blood relations, coding-decoding, etc...

Resources used for preparation of Logical Reasoning are book named A modern approach to Logical Reasoning R.S.Agrawal and Youtube videos by Education4u and Meritshine.

For English, I just went through the previous questions asked due to less available time. You can refer to a book “Objective General English” by S.P.Bakshi.

If you wish to know the pattern of the test and the types of questions asked in previous years, you can see Youtube videos on channels PrepInsta, Faceprep, and Talentbattle.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR MCQ BASED ON PROGRAMMING AND CODING QUESTIONS

For preparing MCQ based on Programming, Youtube channels and websites of PrepInsta, FacePrep are of great help!!

If you wish to prepare for a coding test, you can definitely use hackerrank as a coding platform as it provides you with questions from basic to advanced levels along with good explanations.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR CS FUNDAMENTAL SUBJECTS SUCH AS DBMS, OS, AND CN FOR TESTS AND INTERVIEWS?

If you wish to understand the core concepts, I will strongly recommend watching videos by Youtube channel named GATE SMASHERS for DBMS, OS, and CN

HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN INTERVIEW?

The interview is a fearful process for many of us!! But if you are well prepared then be confident that you are going to crack that interview.

Most important tip about cracking interview is THINK OUT LOUD. Let the interviewer know what is your approach and thinking towards solving the problem.

Another tip which I would give is to PREPARE YOUR RESUME WELL.

The Resume is like the syllabus sheet for our interview. So we must know about each word written in our resume.

The third tip is if you don’t know the answer to any question, don’t guess the answer. Politely just answer that you don't know the answer and you will try to know about it. Guessing the answer might land you in serious trouble in your interview.

For knowing what type of questions are asked in Interviews, you can refer to Interview Experiences on Geeksforgeeks. I have shared below some links to commonly asked questions in the Interview.

Commonly asked interview questions of C++, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming(OOP), Database Management Systems(DBMS),Operating System and Computer Network.

Detailed knowledge about your projects is necessary if you are appearing for an interview.

HOW TO BUILD A GOOD RESUME?

Resume should be short and crisp. It should follow one pager format.

You can use various templates for making resume, some of which I would suggest are:

Template 1(Overleaf.com)

Template 2(Careercup.com)

Template 3 (Source : YouTube channel of Priyank Goyal)

I have tried to cover every possible detail in this article. If you have any queries or doubt you can reach me out on LinkedIn.

Best Wishes for your upcoming placements!!

Thank you!!
